So, what's happening?
New Year’s Fest is an all-ages showcase of performing arts that takes place on New Year's Eve in Downtown Kalamazoo. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. and runs until 12 a.m. to ring in the New Year. We are working to make the event safe and enjoyable.
The Entertainment Committee is working to hire entertainers for the 2021 Festival. Interested individuals and groups are asked to apply for consideration for the 2021 Festival. The link to apply is online and provides the committee with the information needed to design a portfolio of performances and attract people of all ages and backgrounds. The typical groups are bands, performers (magic, storytelling, unique acts, and jugglers, theatre groups, and interactive performances that get the audience moving. There are also outdoor performance spaces for those who love the cold and the ability to perform and see their breathe (there are performers who love this).
Performances are scheduled for 4-30 minute or 3-45 minute performances that rotate throughout the night. This allows for attendees to schedule their attendance based on when they can/want to attend. There will also be virtual performances where people can stream the shows live. The schedule will allow you to determine how you want to view the performances from either your home or from coming downtown.
Closer to the event, we will highlight the restaurants and local businesses that will offer outdoor dining or experiences on New Year's Eve. Eventually, you will be able to tap along the menu bar of the website to explore the maps, the performance grid, cool things to do, and our amazing sponsors and
foundations that make this event possible.
Until then (around September) stay tuned and save the date of December 31 for a performing arts festival right here in downtown Kalamazoo!
