The 2021 New Year's Fest Event
is in the planning stages....ready for a celebration of
music, dance, and laughter
So, what's happening?
New Year’s Fest is an all-ages showcase of performing arts that takes place on New Year's Eve in Downtown Kalamazoo. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 12 a.m. to ring in the New Year. We are working to make the event safe and enjoyable. We know that on event day, we will be requiring masks of everyone over the age of 2 who are attending performances indoors or inside tents. All outdoor performances will not have a mask mandate at this time.
The Board of Directors together with some of the Bronson Park Churches are working to create an event that holds true to the traditions of New Year's Fest. As sites become available, we will add more entertainment performances. Right now, 2021 features about 17 different performances that include bands, performers (magic, storytelling, unique acts, and jugglers, theatre, and interactive performances that get the audience moving. There are also outdoor street performances for those who love the cold.
Performances are scheduled for 4-30 minute or 3-45 minute performances that rotate throughout the night. This allows attendees to schedule their attendance based on when they can/want to attend. There will also be virtual performances where people can stream the shows live (this schedule will be determined in late November). The schedule will allow you to determine how you want to view the performances from either your home or from coming downtown.
Closer to the event, we will highlight the restaurants and local businesses that will offer outdoor dining or experiences on New Year's Eve. Eventually, you will be able to tap along the menu bar of the website to explore the maps, the performance grid, cool things to do, and our amazing sponsors and
foundations that make this event possible.
Until then stay tuned and save the date of December 31 for a performing arts festival right here in downtown Kalamazoo!
